Personal data confidentiality policy
This personal data protection policy is based on article 415 of Book 5 of the French Digital Code on the Protection of Personal Data.
It contains proof of the fulfilment of prior formalities with the Personal Data Protection Authority (APDP) and helps you to understand what personal data we collect and process in our Institution, the purposes for which it is used and the measures that have been taken to comply with the legislation in force in the Republic of Benin on the protection of personal data and privacy.
Please read this privacy policy carefully, as it is binding on us. By providing your Personal Data on the website and via the contact addresses, you declare that you have read this policy and that you expressly consent to it and to the processing itself.

3. Personal data subject to processing
- The data processed is the personal data that you provide us with when you apply for nationality, visit the site (the_site_name) or use our telephone contacts and email addresses. Surname, first names, email, addresses, location, IP address, gender, date of birth, country of birth, town of birth, marital status, country of residence, telephone number, occupation, nationality, passport number, passport expiry date, country of passport issue, father's details (surname, first names, date of birth, country of birth, town of birth, nationality), mother's details (surname, first names, date of birth, country of birth, town of birth, Nationality), the documents to be provided for the application (document(s) proving the applicant's profession, the applicant's birth certificate or any certificate in lieu thereof, the certificate of nationality of the applicant's country of origin, any document proving the applicant's Afro-descent, the applicant's criminal record issued by the competent authority of the applicant's country of origin, the applicant's certificate of residence or proof of address, three passport photos of the applicant).
4. Treatment operations
a) The Nationality Documents Issuing Authority only collects personal information relating to users and the data collected from them for the exclusive purpose of the services it offers.
b) The information collected is processed for the purposes set out below.
c) The following processing operations are carried out: collection, processing, analysis, use, recording, verification of the authenticity of information, storage and retention of data, sharing and communication of data.
d) The processing of your personal data does not include profiling, nor will you be subject to any automated decisions on our part.
5. The purpose(s) of the processing operation(s)
Information is collected for the following purposes:
a) Follow-up and guidance for users ;
b) Collecting and processing applications and issuing provisional and final certificates of nationality;
c) To assess site traffic and compile visitor statistics;
d) Canvassing, subject to your express consent.
6. Recipients of personal data communication and transfer
a. The recipient of the data collected is the Nationality Issuing Authority under the authority of the Minister of Justice.
b. The personal data and contacts collected are communicated for secondary use:
- of prospecting to the Agency Bénin Tourisme.
- of public service for identification and control purposes to the Agence Nationale d'Identification des Personnes (ANIP), the Direction de l'Émigration et de l'Immigration (DEI);
No data will be passed on to third parties. The Nationality Document Authority will not make your personal data commercially available to third parties except with your prior consent.
7. Duration of treatment, conservation and storage
a) Personal Data is kept for as long as necessary to comply with applicable regulations and is, in any event, anonymized.

c) Personal data is kept and stored as follows:
- methods of storage: national civil status file ;
- country of preservation and storage : Benin
- in the form of a physical file (paper) and an electronic file.
8. The rights of data subjects with regard to processing
The law gives you the following rights over your personal data:

· right of modification;
· right of rectification ;
· right to portability ;
· right to object ;
· right to deletion of data ;
· right to compensation.
